What makes the Burlington 026 unique: Today we are very pleased to present to you this fantastic timepiece from the Burlington Watch Company, our Burlington 026. We love this gorgeous understated dial with very concise text. It has a way of not being flashy at all, but definitely showing character upon closer examination. These blued-steel full-moon hands have an amazing amount of character that shows their age and draw you in for more. We went with our sandblasted titanium case to enhance the soft beauty of the dial, and topped it off with a gold-plated crown and hardware. Burlington was subcontracted by the Illinois Watch Company and was always the highest-grade watches that they made at that time. As we turn this watch over to view the movement, we immediately see some similarities in the design of the bridge plates, with an obvious flare to make it stand out from the typical Illinois design. This watch has 21 jewels which we expect from Burlington, as well as rose-gold plated gears and amazing details in the different surfaces throughout.
This watch was originally manufactured by the Illinois Watch Company in Springfield, Illinois in 1923. In this same year, the first successful insulin treatment was administered to a 14-year-old boy in Toronto, Canada. This marked a major breakthrough in diabetes treatment and was a major milestone in medical history. The successful insulin treatment was made possible through the groundbreaking research of Dr. Frederick Banting and his colleague Charles Best, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for their work in 1923. The success of this treatment has positively impacted millions of lives around the world and has been a source of hope for those living with diabetes.
